Post Convention Review

Article by Robert Rhodes:

The 2016 Democratic Convention was one of excitement, energy, and unity that has since followed into first polls. Senator Christina Tillman has pulled to a nice lead in Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Nevada over Senator Anthony Granata. Granata, after months of inner-party fighting and millions of dollars spend on negative advertising, was named the GOP nominee after Kyle Fitzgerald withdrew unexpectedly. The GOP attempted to follow the same method of unification that the DNC mastered at their convention, yet they appear to have fallen short. In the most recent national polling states that are Republican strongholds do not appear to be as safe as they are normally. States like Arizona and Ohio are currently toss ups and Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, and Alaska are currently only lean-Republican. This race is far from over, but there are two outstanding questions. With the Republicans having to protect states that they normally don’t it will be interesting what Granata’s strategy will be, will it be targeting swing states, or turning out the vote in the heart of the GOP base? The second question is, can Christina Tillman continue to ride the momentum following the convention to a win in November? If the election was held today Christina Tillman would be elected President carrying 308 electoral votes. Please stay tuned for more election coverage.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has been a center point for this years presidential race. Both campaigns have spent countless hours in the state as well as millions of dollars in advertisements so far. Earlier this week, NATN ran a poll to gauge the impact of the campaigns so far. We are now ready to share with you those results. Based on the poll ran if the election were held today Pennsylvania and it’s 20 electoral votes would go to Senator Christina Tillman. Tillman is currently polling at an overwhelming 53% of the vote with Granata coming in just at 47%. A 6 point advantage this close to Election Day might be too much to overcome. It does bring to question what will the Granata campaign do next? If Granata focuses solely on Pennsylvania then he will miss out on other key battleground states, but if he focuses on the other states will there be enough time to overcome early leads by Tillman in those states as well. It will be extremely intriguing to see what moves each campaign makes next.
