WASHINGTON, D.C. - Speaking to reporters from his office in Washington, Speaker Christopher Drake, a Republican from New York's 2nd Congressional District, touted the economic accomplishments of the House Republican caucus amid continued recovery in the economy and the stock market.

"We've gotten a lot done," he said. "When you look at things that were signed into law, it's all pretty common sense stuff. We passed tax relief for farmers, support for nuclear energy infrastructure, support for rural electric vehicle charging infrastructure, grants for ports to expand and improve their operations, and regulatory protection for rural communities and farmers. All of this together represents a good leap forward for our economy, in all sectors. By tackling supply and transport issues head on, we are beginning to tamp down inflation, keeping the economy from overheating. By supporting tax cuts and expanded innovation, we are encouraging the growth of new jobs and promising industries while lowering costs for the average American."

Unfortunately, not all of the GOP's bills were so successful. "Joe Biden vetoed a lot of bills that would have helped out. Tax cuts that encouraged investment and economic activity. Authorization for the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have encouraged the growth of our domestic energy market, weening us off Russian and Middle Eastern oil and gas. These were common sense bills too, and Joe Biden's acquiescence to the radicals and worst impulses of his party is hurting American families reliant on these industries and more. It is completely ridiculous."

The GOP isn't done with legislation focusing on improving the economy. Speaker Drake has proposed bills recently to cut taxes for homeowners, establish new anti-inflation budgetary requirements in Congress, hold government regulatory agencies accountable, and much more. "Our focus is on getting Americans back to work again, getting their pay increasing again, and making families prosperous again."
