Washington, DC – Sen. Kyle Fitzgerald (R-WV) spoke to the press after introducing the Xinjiang Prohibition Act.

“I saw recently that a billionaire NBA owner said people don’t care about the genocide occurring in Communist China. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The American people are outraged by the atrocities committed in China, and they are also outraged by billionaires making money hand over first in China while ignoring these atrocities. Those billionaires might not care about it, but I do. That’s why I introduced the Xinjiang Prohibition Act. This bill prohibits goods produced in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region from being imported into the United States. Our government has a responsibility to send a clear message that we will not tolerate the atrocities being committed by Communist China. It’s time to do the right thing and put people over profits.”
