The Office of Senator Kyle Fitzgerald
For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – Senate Majority Leader Kyle Fitzgerald (R-TX) spoke to the press about prescription drug legislation.

“The American people want a market-based solution to lower the costs of prescription drugs. That is why I have scheduled the State-Based, Market-Oriented, Prescription Drug Negotiations Act, sponsored by Senator Grant Pinnacle, for debate on the Senate Floor. This bill will allow State-based, market-oriented, prescription drug negotiations to lower pharmaceutical drug prices, to encourage competition, and to increase consumer choice and access. Basically, it will allow insurance companies to negotiate with drug manufacturers to get lower prices. We have to reduce the cost of drugs, but we also have to do it without a government takeover of the healthcare market. This bill accomplishes those goals.”

The Office of Senator Kyle Fitzgerald
For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – Senate Majority Leader Kyle Fitzgerald (R-TX) spoke to the press after the Lobbying and Campaign Finance Reform Act, sponsored by Senator Fitzgerald, was signed into law.

“I think we can all agree that lobbyists have too much influence in politics, especially in Washington. There are too many stories over the years of overzealous lobbyists and politicians that are way too easily bought off. In fact, just recently it was discovered that Illinois Speaker of the House Henry Tomblin had accepted numerous bribes from a variety of businesses throughout his tenure. One of the bribes was as large as $100,000. That is why I introduced the Lobbying and Campaign Finance Reform Act. This bill does several things to limit the influence of lobbyists and dark money in American elections. First of all, it limits the amount of money that lobbyists can collect from multiple sources and donate to candidates – a process known in the industry as bundling. The bill also revises the definition of a lobbyist to include more people. Furthermore, it prohibits online credit card donations from unverified sources. The integrity of our political system is what holds American democracy together. If Americans think the people writing our laws are crooks, then this entire foundation that we’ve spent more than two hundred years building on is at risk of falling apart. With the recent signing of the Lobbying and Campaign Finance Reform Act into law, that foundation just got a lot stronger.”
