Senator Madison Announces Re-Election Campaign

KANSAS CITY, MO - Senator Michael Madison (R-MO) announced his re-election campaign yesterday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Hello, everyone! Thanks for coming out here today! Kansas City is a great, vibrant, growing city thanks to some great leadership and policy both locally and statewide. Always great to come here.

So, I’m sure you all know me: I’m Michael Madison, Senator from Missouri. As you all also know, there is an election this year. This year, we decide who our next President will be and what our Congress shall look like. Will we have a government of growth, limited power, and respect for rights? Or will we have a government of power, corruption, Byzantine regulations, and constant taxation? I know where I stand, and I know that the agenda I was elected on in 2010 hasn’t been accomplished. That’s why I’m running for re-election to the US Senate as your Senator.

As your Senator, I have fought for your constitutional rights. I will continue to fight for free speech and the right to bear arms. Even now, the Senate debates on the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act that I introduced, which keeps law-abiding gun owners from getting caught in the tangled web of state firearm laws. I intend to introduce legislation to protect free speech for all, regardless of political affiliation, on public college campuses: liberal, conservative, libertarian, socialist, or moderate.

As your Senator, I will fight for lower taxes and a more balanced budget. We need a more responsible budgetary regime in Washington. We don’t need myriad, confusing taxes that the elite can avoid with their expensive tax lawyers while the middle class is screwed. I will also fight for less job-killing regulations that choke out small business and leave people unemployed.

As your Senator, I will fight for life because no one should be murdered because they have yet to be born. I’ve introduced legislation that bans your money from funding abortions. This is actually legislation widely supported in America. After all, if abortion is a private matter as pro-choice advocates say, why should the people be involved in it through their funds? Unfortunately, the Democrats keep obstructing this bill and similar ones that have cropped up throughout the years. They want your money to fund something you personally disagree with, and I think that’s just wrong. That’s why I’ll keep fighting to keep your money away from abortion.

Thank you for coming out here with me, ladies and gentlemen. I hope to earn your vote for another term as your United States Senator. Thank you, and God bless Missouri, and God bless America!”
